Organic skin care as we all know by now due to the attention it has created refers to products that are produced using organically-farmed ingredients. As diverse as the world is, these standards of organic farming are diverse and have different standards from region to region. But even then what is typically common is the fact that they are produced in organic farms and do not use laboratory-made substances.
To ensure organic origin, these farming techniques do not make use of Chemical Fertilisers, Chemical Pesticides, Antibiotics, Hormones, Parabens, Sulphates or Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs).
Hence it is quite clear that for any skincare to be called organic must be formulated of organically farmed and processed plant-derived ingredients. These can include ingredients obtained from the plant kingdom like
- plant extracts
- plant oils or butters
- essential oils
- resins
- Gums.
The organic skincare formulation must also have the features like use of recyclable packaging, use minimum amount of synthetic ingredients, should conserve the environment, etc.
As a fact any product to be called organic is regulated to contain at least 95% or more of its ingredients that are organic.
Are you aware that even when these facts about organic skin care products are spreading educating the users there are still some MYTHS that need to be debunked in a systematic and convincing manner.

Debunking the MYTH means to correct what is set wrong.
Is it easy to do so……
Certainly not as Correcting or “debunking” misinformation is challenging.
Why would someone ask? Is it just not simple to explain?
In fact, it is done in a systematic manner which we shall attempt to do here.
This debunking is done to help consumers make an informed decision. Also by debunking myths about organic skincare we attempt to provide correct information about Organic skincare products and focus our efforts where they can have an impact.

Myth #1: Organic skincare formulations are not as effective as non-organic ones
This myth tries to convey the message that if a comparison is done between Organic and Chemical skincare then it lacks the efficacy or effectiveness in its action as compared to the non-organic skincare products.
Organic skincare is the latest beauty craze. This is because organic skincare products are healthier in every way. They keep your skin immaculate, are safe to use, and are also eco-friendly.
However, it is always advisable to switch your skincare products from chemicals to organic with the knowledge that the efficacy of the new organic formulations is nearly as excellent as the performance of the old chemical formulations but without the negative effects associated with the chemical brands.
Many people are fearful of this change and prefer to continue with a product that they are acquainted with and have used for years. They tend to believe the Myth.
To debunk the Myth let me state that
Organic skincare products, are full with ingredients that benefit the skin health. These are the nutrients, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals at high concentrations that are incorporated in the formulations that are responsible for truly providing your skin with love from the outside.
You will acquire that “glow” that is often so elusive. You often get such glow with your latest smartphone filter, but this time it’s real! Skin that is radiant, moisturized, and clear. After just a few applications, people will be asking what you have been doing differently.

Organic skincare is more beneficial for your skin because it is free of chemicals and manufactured from natural ingredients. It penetrates deeply into the skin and produces apparent benefits with no negative side effects.
Myth #2: Organic skincare formulations are always expensive.
This myth is fairly common that organic skincare formulations are always expensive. While it is true that production and manufacturing of some organic skincare products is slightly more on the expensive side as compared to commercial non-organic cosmetics.
Yes, some organic products may be a little more priced than commercial non-organic products simply because pure quality ingredients are used in the formulations, and this does cost more. The organic ingredients that are used in organic Skincare formulations are eco-friendly and sustainable.
Having said that, we think it doesn’t necessarily have to be really expensive to have access to high-quality skincare. The primary goal of the companies that create organic skincare is to offer products of the highest calibre at reasonable prices so that everyone can benefit equally from organic skincare and its accompanying advantages.
The reason for this is only because sustaining the production and manufacturing of pure ingredients in formulations is costly. On the other hand, commercial cosmetics are available at a much cheaper price due to the fact that they are mass produced, but they tend to have tons of chemicals in them.
We are well aware now that not only have we found that high-end beauty lines are insanely pricey, but they manage to be overpriced for products with tons of harmful chemicals. Here we aim to promote organic skin care and explain the fact that they are available at affordable prices. This is as we believe that everyone should have access to good quality products that won’t affect their well-being. You must remember that you can’t put a price on your health!

Myth #3: Organic skincare formulations don’t last as long as non-organic ones.
It is a Belief a Myth that since organic skincare is made of natural organic ingredients and do not contain any commercial chemical preservatives which are known to be effective. This makes the organic skincare formulations not last for longer as compared to non-organic formulations.
When chemical preservatives are not formulated in organic skincare that does not mean that such products do not contain any preservatives. It is a fact that organic skincare does not contain harsh preservatives like formaldehydes, parabens or alcohols.
For a fact organic skincare products contain safe preservatives like Phenoxyethanol, sorbates, benzoates or other commercial COSMOS certified preservatives like Lexgard which help to improve the stability of organic formulations.
Not only preservatives the antimicrobials or antioxidants also help in improving the shelf life of the products. Apart from this is the chosen packaging is also important as the package can also save the product from getting oxidised and spoil the product.
Myth #4: Organic skincare formulations are not suitable for all skin types
In their quest to maintain chemical-free skin, consumers are more in demand for natural skin care products, which is good because more people are becoming aware of the need of preserving skin health and utilizing chemical-free products.
Although organic products might have natural organic ingredients, they might not be suitable for different skin types. Sometimes, a few natural ingredients might not suit your skin type and may lead to allergic reactions or irritations.
This myth isn’t true. Choosing organic skincare products with gentle ingredients possess specific medicated properties will help relieve particular skin condition. However, as organic formulations do not contain harsh chemicals like PEG, alcohol, sulfates, parabens, or added fragrances, they do not irritate your skin and hence are suitable and safe for all types of skins.
Myth #5: Organic skincare formulations don’t need to be tested for safety and efficacy
The Importance of Testing Skincare Formulations is known by all but still there are some that believe that organic skincare which uses organic ingredients do not need to be tested.
The various regulatory bodies like the FDA, EU Health Canada, etc.
In fact, insists that there should be enough testing done to ensure the safety of the product for use. One of the most important aspects of ensuring the quality and stability of the product right from the designing stage is setting up appropriate testing for organic skincare formulation as even the smallest errors can result in catastrophic failures that may be dangerous for use.
Organizations can be held liable if their product endangers customers’ health because people physically put those things on their bodies. The manufacturer is accountable for assuring the safety of a product and all of its components before it is placed on store shelves.

We consumers spend a considerable amount of our hard earned money on things that are irrelevant to our wellbeing but do so compulsively in the name of FASHION. But, when it comes to products we use daily like our personal care cosmetics look into price and believe in such Myths like Organic skincare formulations are always expensive. I am sure you know better now…..
One more myth that was proved untrue is Organic skincare formulations don’t last as long as non-organic ones. Where we now know that all organic skincare too can last its shelf life due to the use of safe preservatives.
I know it is difficult to believe that Organic skincare formulations are not suitable for all skin types. This myth is busted with the fact that these products are not only safe to use by all but are also more effective on the particular issues like pigmentation or fine lines due to the better antioxidants used.
Last but not the least this MYTH needs to be BUSTED that Organic skincare formulations don’t need to be tested for safety and efficacy as almost all countries mandate the manufacture the safety regulations in place which mention product stability.
Organic skincare is better for the skin and sustainable for the environment, much like an organic diet is beneficial for your health. It provides you luminous, vibrant skin and shields you from the
