Are you someone who is concerned about your skin health but always fall victim to different marketing strategy without paying attention to toxic ingredients found in your own cosmetic products that you buy and that are advertised as “natural”?

There are many untold stories of how women and men suffer from skin issues and tried out various skin treatments methods, techniques, products and still failed to fix their problems.

That’s when they turn their heads to DIY homemade skincare products with the hope that they will work.

But the main part in which they stay confused in making homemade cosmetics is they fail to figure out the exact formulations to create homemade cosmetics.

For instance, let me share my story, I’ve been always a victim of acne vulgaris. I have always enjoyed trying and developing new things because of my curiosity.

But it wasn’t until I was eager to heal my skin that I thought about making my own skin-care products.

After a lot of research and trial and error, I was finally able to control my acne for the first time in years by creating my natural skincare line.

I am sure, many of you, have skin problems you’d like to address naturally. Perhaps you want to make your beauty routine more straightforward. Perhaps you want to start your own natural skincare company.

Whatever your motivation, I feel that making your own items has numerous advantages. In my DIY skincare quest, I’ve discovered a few benefits. And I am sure y’all will definitely enjoy those benefits.

“A product may advertise to be natural even if it contains only a few organic ingredients or a drop of essential oil. Worse, they may contain elements that aren’t allowed in a real natural or organic product. Packaging can deceive us by claiming to be “organic,” “eco,” and “natural” while carrying almost no ingredients to support this assertion.”

Why you should formulate your Own cosmetic products?

    1. You can influence the composition of the product and personalize it

Everyone’s skin is diverse and has various requirements.

A component that works wonders for a combination/sensitive skin may not be suitable for another person’s acne-prone skin.

That’s why it’s so amazing to be able to tailor your skincare to your own needs by combining science and ecology and to discover your best treatments through trial and error.

In industrial items, raw materials are always chosen based on something other than your skin. The basic materials should be able to last for a long time.

That’s why mineral oils, as well as heated or otherwise tainted fats, are commonly used in industrial cosmetics.

Cold-pressed oils are frequently used in natural cosmetics, but are they good for your skin? No one is sure.

Olive oil is used in several natural cosmetics creams.

Olive oil, on the other hand, is not suitable for many people since it clogs pores.

That is why, when it comes to self-care and wellbeing, there is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all solution, so take advantage of the flexibility you’ll have to tailor your items to fit your lifestyle, ethics, culture, and needs.

And from this process, you can finalize your product that works on your skin.

    2. You can select the freshest ingredients available

When you produce your skincare products, you have complete control over the source of your raw materials, as well as the quality, cost, and formulation.

While most beauty products only penetrate the outer layer of the skin, a fraction of what you apply to your skin can end up in your bloodstream, relying on how the product is made.

This can be advantageous in some cases. It may have unforeseen repercussions in some cases.

For instance, when you buy a cream from the supermarket, you have no way of knowing how old the ingredients are. Sure, the shelf life is printed on the package, but does it say anything?

The shelf life/best before date indicates that the product’s structure should remain constant until the expiration date. Also, the product will spoil, which means it should not pick up germs or moulds before its shelf life expires.

But how well do the flavonoids and fatty acids in the cream keep their properties?

All of the complex phytochemicals in the cream you purchased will most likely expire before the best before date.

    • Every component of your DIY lotion should be selected by you.
    • Herbs should be kept dry and hidden.
    • Keep an eye on the expiration dates of the ingredients and only use the freshest ones.
    • Similar to canned and fresh fruits, there is a difference between fresh and commercial cream ingredients.

    3. It costs only a fraction of manufactured goods

Natural and organic products are frequently expensive, and for good reason: they are high-quality items made with the greatest ingredients and meticulously crafted and labelled.

The brand owner invests a significant amount of time and effort, and they should be rewarded for it. They’ll also have a lot of business operating costs and expenses to cover.

These company expenses are not necessary if you want to create your products. All you have to pay for are the materials and a container to wrap the finished product in. As a result, making your items saves you money.

You can easily produce a high-quality face cream for $5-$10 that costs $50 or $70 in stores. (Creams are made up of 60-70 per cent water, which is one of the reasons they are so cheap to create!)

Even making DIY body cleansers, scrubs, masks, lotions and serums are easy to make once you understand exact formulations and the ingredients used to make those are affordable than those chemically filled costly cosmetics.

    4. You have the option to change those DIY products daily

Purchasing a commercial cream is usually a significant investment. You spend a long time looking for and testing the cream, and once you do, you use it for at least three to six months.

People usually do not discard half-empty cream jars and instead replace them with new ones. What a waste of resources, and it’s unethical.

You can manufacture very small amounts of cream and switch up the cream you use frequently if you prepare it yourself.

Naturally, preparing a very tiny amount, such as a day’s lotion, is difficult. That is much insufficient. You can, however, construct a basic cream and tweak it daily.

    5. You produce less garbage and save the environment

Manufacturing your skincare products allows you to bring less packaging into your home and reduces the carbon emissions required to manufacture the product.

You can further limit your environmental effect by only using locally sourced ingredients in your products and storing them in glass containers that can be cleaned and reused.

Creating skin care products using natural, healthy products allows us to feel connected to the land and show thanks for nature’s abundance while also supporting sustainable agriculture.

    6. You save a lot of money

According to a SkinStore poll, the average American woman between the ages of 16 and 75 spends $8 per day on skincare and beauty products. That’s about $250 per month or nearly $100,000 over a lifetime!

A simple skin cream prepared from natural raw materials, on the other hand, usually costs only $7–12 for several months’ worth.

When making your cream, the first thing you’ll notice is how inexpensive it is. This is critical: a can of high-quality, non-toxic cream.

Naturally, there are low-cost creams available in stores, but they are not high-quality items. So the quality matters here, as store-bought cheap products doesn’t work well whereas homemade ones show effectiveness from day one.

    7. The process of making homemade cosmetics is creative and fun

Researching, acquiring ingredients, and making something new with your own hands is both peaceful and empowering. Maybe many people won’t like this, but it is fun!

Making your beauty products is both an art and science.

It’s similar to chemistry in that it’s the result of chemical processes, but it’s also similar to cooking or painting in that it allows you to express yourself via the production of something new.

It certainly requires experimentation, few failures or tweaks, but once you achieve your final product, you will be proud of yourself.

    8. Anyone can start a skincare business as homemade cosmetics works better

Nature can’t always be defeated. My own experiences have demonstrated that the things I created for myself fit better than any store-bought products I’ve tested.

Many commercial beauty products advertise the advantages of botanical substances such as argan oil, marula oil, or green tea extract on their packaging and advertising, yet the amount of these compounds in the product is usually negligible.

You can be sure that you’re getting the full advantages that nature intended when you buy your oils and regulate the amount in your products.

Nothing will be able to stop you after you’ve learned how to produce your skincare, bath, and body care products.

Making items to sell does not necessitate any official qualifications.

Of course, you’ll need to learn the essential skills, have your products tested for safety, and adhere to all applicable cosmetic rules.

But you don’t have to worry to do all the research by yourself to learn those skills, as we in learn canyon provide certification courses to help you start with your cosmetic business.
